This journal is a missed opportunity. The other night the stars outside were very bright, and everywhere. I wanted to do some star trails, so I went inside to grab my camera and tripod, but my cameras battery was dead. Because of this, by the time it was charge enough to do a good shoot, the sky was too dark to get any good shots.

Journal Five
ISO: 125
Shutter Speed: 1/20
Aperture: 2.4
I took this photo over the summer on the railroad tracks in Brattleboro. I used a tripod, and my Nikon D3100. I like this photo because the tracks lead your eye down the photo. I use this shot as a missed opportunity, because I think that if I had timed it better I could've gotten the sunset at a better angle.

Journal Four
ISO: 12800
Shutter Speed: 1/1250
Aperture: 8.0
I took this photo the other night, when I was lighting matches to get the strike. Because this didn't work, my brother laid the matches on my windowsill. He thought it looked cool, so I lit one more match and laid them on top of each other. I used my D 3100 to take this photo. I liked the simplicity of the photo with the background being black.
Black & White with Color
ISO: 800
Shutter Speed: 1/200
Aperture: 5.6
This is the first photo I took for my Black and White with color. I used the adjustment brush in RAW to make the candle black and white, and to add the color to the side, and the the flame on the candle and reflection. I used my window at night, to get the reflection of the flame.
ISO: 320
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Aperture: 9.0
I took this photo over last summer. I like this shot, because I got a side profile of the turtle. I used layers in Photoshop to make the background black and white, and the give the turtle color. I put the green of the grass back into the photo, because it created depth to the shot.
ISO: 800
Shutter Speed: 13.0
Aperture: 7.1
This is a photo I took during my Photography One class for a light painting project. I used the saturation sliders in RAW to make only the oranges stand out. I liked this photo, because the orange in it is very vibrant, and really makes the gazebo stand out.
Digital Black & White
ISO: 3600
Shutter Speed: 1/20
Aperture: 4.2
This is a photo is my cat Cosmo. I made this image a Black and White in RAW. I liked this photo in black and white, because it makes it look more dramatic. I like the side profile of the cat, and it shows the simplified detail of his fur.
ISO: 1600
Shutter Speed: 1/60
Aperture: 4.5
This is a photo is the BUHS banners in the high school. I took this photo in my photography one class. I decided to make it a Black and White in RAW because I liked how it makes the photo look very deep, and simplified even though the background pattern is bricks.
ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 1/1250
Aperture: 7.1
This is a landscape photo I took in Guilford, VT. I made this photo Black and White in RAW to show the detail of the woods and trees in the background. I like this photo because it has a lot of crisp lines in the shot. If I could change something about this photo it would be to bring more of the scene into the shot, by backing up, or taking the photo from a different vantage point.

Split Toning & Duotoning
ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 1/125
Aperture: 4.0
This is one of my Split Toning photos. I took this photo during my Photo One class. I used a Film Camera. I was in the woods, in the shade, and had Austin be my model. I like this photo, because it has a very nice leading line, and the background is very pretty. If I could change something about this shot it would be to maybe get his whole body in the photo, or too look at some different vantage points.
ISO: 50
Shutter Speed: 1/180
Aperture: 2.4
This is my other Split Toning Photo. This is a photo I took in the summer of a flower in New Jersey. I was walked in Six Flags and thought it was really pretty, so I shaped a quick photo of it. I used my D 3100. I liked this photo, because it is very simple, and pretty. If I could change something about it, it would be the wall on the far left. Something else I could do next time, is take it from a different angle.
ISO: 3600
Shutter Speed: 1/20
Aperture: 4.2
This is one of my Duotones. It is a photo of my cat Cosmo. I used my D 3100, and a tripod. He was posing very still, so I captured his side profile. I liked this shot, because he is very fluffy, and has gorgeous colors in his fur. If I could change something about this photo it would be the busy background.
ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 1/125
Aperture: 7.1
This is my other Duotone Photo. I took this shot during my Photo One class. I used a film camera. I like this shot, because it is very simple. When I printed this photo I brought it into photoshop and removed the power lines.
Color Wheel
ISO: 360
Shutter Speed: 1/160
Aperture: 3.8
This is my Color Wheel. I decided to do this for my project, because I knew it was not original. I used colored paint, and mixed it with water. To get the tilt effect I put the glasses on a tilted surface. I used my D 3100 and a tripod, with my flash on. To get the desired six glasses all in one photo I had to take over 50 shots, I took the best two (with three glasses in each) and merged them together. The hardest part about this project was making sure the levels of the water were gradually going up. If I could change one thing, it would be the spacing between the yellow and green glasses.

Journal Three
This is a picture of a tortoise that I took in New Jersey. I had my camera on an auto mode because I wanted to make sure the photo came out as clear as possible because I was on a moving vehicle. In the photo the tortoise was being sprayed by a water hose, and I though it was a cool moment because he was trying to hide his face from the water. If I could do something different about this shot it would be to include the whole animal in the photo.
